Experience a Weekend of Fun in Austin Texas at the Pecan Street Festival

The Pecan Street Festival is the longest running and the largest arts, crafts and music festival held in the historic Sixth Street District, downtown Austin. This two-day festival is a bi-annual event that takes place in May and then in September, every year.  Started as a community event to preserve the local culture and creativity, the Pecan Festival is being held for more than three decades and has now become an integral part of Austin’s tradition. The festival is being organized for more than a decade by Special Events Live.

The Pecan Street Festival is a conglomeration of hundreds of local, national and international craftspersons and artisans, from various parts of the country and the world, who come here to showcase hand-crafted articles made of different materials such as wood, fiber, metal, leather, clay, stone, glass and also from recycled materials of all kinds.

Origin of the Name: “Pecan Street Festival”

The Austin street grids were designed by Edwin Waller and the north-south streets were given names of Texas rivers, while the east-west streets were named after trees. Later, these streets underwent a change, where they were given numeric names. Although Pecan Street came to be known as the Sixth Street, the Pecan Street Festival upholds the original name of the street.

Festival Location

Held at the heart of Austin’s live entertainment and business district, the Pecan Street Festival is usually held on Sixth Street, originally known as Pecan Street. The street has many commercial buildings and historical houses that date back to the 1800s and 1900s. In fact, the area finds a place in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Sixth Street is indeed Austin’s entertainment center and holds some of the greatest events like the SXSW, Pecan Street Festival, the Sixth Street’s well-known Halloween celebrations and The Republic of Texas Biker Rally.

Things to Do on Sixth Street

The old buildings of the Sixth Street now contain most of the area’s art galleries, live entertainment venues, tattoo parlors, cafes, art galleries, restaurants and retailers.  Here you can get a fill of your favorite genre of live music, be it blues, jazz, hip hop, progressive, country, rock, metal or punk, there is something for everyone. Once you have indulged in some retail therapy and filled your senses with music, you can give into your cravings and indulge in a variety of foods and cuisines, ranging from regional dishes like ribs, chili and Tex-Mex or other delicacies such as seafood, steak, deli or Cajun cuisine.

Activities You Can Enjoy at the Pecan Street Festival

Music

There are three stages set on the Neches, Trinity and Red River streets that feature more than 50 musical acts by Austin’s renowned and veteran bands, musical artists and upcoming bands.

Food

Enjoy food from more than 30 stalls that are spread throughout the festival venue that feature delicious local, regional and national cuisines. Treat yourself to a variety of beverages to keep you fresh and hydrated, while indulging in some yummy sweets and desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.

Activities for Kids

The Pecan Street Festival has plenty of activities to keep tiny tots and kids engaged and happy. There are many activities that kids can participate in – face painting, street magic, classic carnival, dance performances, interactive workshops, rides and a petting zoo among others.

In the past, the Pecan Street Festival has attracted more than 200,000 visitors and this has helped in generating quite a bit of income for the place. The festival has witnessed several famous and new performers, and in the past, there have been attractions such as The LEGO Experience Tour, where visitors could take part in exciting building-block fun or the “Face the Day” Tour by Wahl, where men could get grooming tips from experts and also free trims.

Doing Their Bit for the Austin Arts and Crafts Community

The Pecan Street Festival was started as a means of preserving Sixth Street as a landmark. The proceeds from the Pecan Street Festival are used to support the Austin community for many projects and the continuing restoration and beautification of the buildings on Sixth Street. The Pecan Street Association also makes donations to municipal-aided organizations and many local Austin non-profit groups, thereby doing their bit for the community. Many local Austin dumpster rental companies like Centex Dumpster Rentals, donate services to keep Austin beautiful.

People flock to the Pecan Street Festival from far and wide. While some are art lovers who come here to appreciate and buy art that is displayed by various artists, others come here to enjoy the music and food, while some others just come to the Pecan Festival to soak in the atmosphere and have fun. All in all, the Pecan Street Festival is a wonderful way to spend a weekend!

2 Big Ideas to Help Your Kitchen Remodel Go Smoother – AUSTIN DUMPSTER ROLL OFF

Does your kitchen floor look like it’s been there for decades? Do the counter tops look like they have been trampled on by elephants and ate on by many little kids? Does your floor plan look like it was built back in time with a different decorating pattern? If this is your kitchen I would look in to updating or remodeling your kitchen. If you update your kitchen with newer appliances and cabinets you could raise the value of your house, and if you remodel your kitchen that can also raise the value of your house but it also you’re your ideas and creativity you have in your head come to reality in real life. The starting of the kitchen remodeling you might need some and maybe a lot of patience and time as your kitchen is mess, but at the end of the whole project will be kitchen you can be proud of and one your can share with all your friend and family.

When remodeling your Kitchen you can just do small up grades or you can do a full out remodel with brand new everything in your kitchen. When thinking of doing a small upgrade you can replace appliances, get new handles for cabinets, or refinish the cabinets. Or you can replace your floor cause it looks like its been walked on for a hundred years or replace your counter tops. These changes will have a new effect on your kitchen and also raise the value of your house. But if you decide to do a full scale remodel of your kitchen this can have the most effect on your house and will want you to showoff your new kitchen.

To start your remodeling process of you kitchen you should make notes on what you want to do, what you are going to replace and about how much money you will or are willing to spend to remodel your kitchen. Walk through your kitchen and take notes on what works and what doesn’t work and what you want to replace or keep in your current kitchen. Start by picking up magazines on kitchens and looking through them and taking notes on what you want to do and do some research on the internet also and what down notes you find on the internet.

Another thing you might want to do is make some kind of folder with all your notes and designs your wrote and picked out of what you want and like. Do not hold back this far into your early stages of your kitchen remodeling. The next thing you should do is decide on a budget or decide on how much you are willing to spend to remodel your kitchen but if I was you I would decide on a budget so you don’t go over and have unexpected bills you have to pay that you cant afford. The next stage of your remodeling process is to match you creative ideas to your budget and what you can afford. By doing this you might be real surprise on how much you can get for you money and how much your creative design will cost you. By this point it would be a good idea to find and contact a designer and maybe even a roll off dumpster rental company or a construction debris removal service in Austin, Texas for your project. They will be very helpful with your design and some advice, tips and some unexpected money issues that might have came to your mind.

Cedar Park Dumpster Rental and Waste Management Prices

The Cost for waste management in Cedar Park, Tx may be going up. This is the time of year when landfills need to charge dumpster companies with additional fees. Dig out fees are common in a landfill. The current price on a dig out of a dumpster is $40. When a dumpster sits for even a short period of time in the winter the bottom of the dumpster usually contains a couple inches of moisture. When this moisture is frozen it may as well be concrete, the driver tips the dumpster back only to learn that nothing has come out of his dumpster. The landfill is quick to respond with a dig out service that is done with a back hoe or escavator.

Salt is then shoveled into the container to try to prevent the dumpster from turning into a trashsicle again. The use of salt after every dump by a dumpster company is just another hit to the bottom line. Contract pricing for dumpster service usually are re-negotiated at the beginning of each year. I cannot remember a time when the price of a service was lowered, but that may just be my experience. In addition to winter blends in fuel the cost of fuel is slowly on the rise this winter. I believe there were many bargains to be had on dumpster rentals this past winter, even in a rough economy. I believe this spring and summer will be another big test for dumpster companies to find a way to reach out to their customers and give them the best bargain they can offer on a dumpster rental in Cedar Park, Tx.

3 Important Tips for Kitchen Remodel AUSTIN DUMPSTER

An attractive, well-designed kitchen gives a home beauty and life. However, all that “liveliness” might amount to the biggest energy drain in your home. Austin Texas general contractor says that the U.S. Department of Energy estimates that 41.5 percent of a home’s energy consumption is from Lighting, refrigeration and cooking. The energy consumption is in addition to the regular kitchen activities like water heating, space heating and cooling.

When remodeling your kitchen, you have a huge opportunity to improve your home’s energy performance says Santa Monica kitchen remodel designer. It’s critical to consider the entire scope of your project and include things like energy efficiency, ecological benefits, accessibility and health considerations that will provide long-term cost savings and comfort.

Los Angeles remodeling contractor recommends these top 3 ideas which will be helpful in creating a “green” kitchen:

1.) Energy-Efficient Appliances: When shopping for a refrigerator, dishwasher or vent for your kitchen remodel, remember to consider the price tags in store and what you pay for in terms of energy uses at home. Energy Star qualified appliances are equipped with advanced technologies that use almost 50 percent less energy and water than the standard models.

2.) Energy-Efficient Windows and Doors: Homeowners can find great savings ranging from $100 to $400 a year by replacing single pane windows which are Energy Star qualified. Windows and doors that use glass with solar shading can increase the room’s comfort and protects items from sun damage.

3.) Induction Cooktop: Induction cooking uses electricity to produce heat. The cookware and the food gets hot but the stove top doesn’t. Less heat is wasted and the food heats faster saving time and energy. Induction cooking is about 90 percent energy efficient. Who wouldn’t want greater savings and warm food faster?! The hard part about a green remodel is to decide just how “green” you want to be.

You don’t have to do everything green says room addition Austin, Tx contractor, but anything you can do will help our planet. The most important part is that you call a reputable green Austin dumpster rental company like Centex Dumpster Rentals, so that they will recycle all of your waste.
